WHAT IS

ONE HEALTH?

One Health is an approach to health that aims to integrate the health of people, animals, and the environment, in order to tackle complex health issues both locally and globally. This is especially relevant to antibiotic resistance, diseases that might cause the next global pandemic, and climate change’s impacts on health.

WHAT WE DO

The work of OHSC is organized into three committees focused on different types of projects: the Advocacy Committee, Research Committee, and Outreach Committee.

ADVOCACY

The aim of the Advocacy Committee is to advocate for evidence-based One Health policies by drafting policy proposals and supporting legislation aimed at safeguarding human, animal, and environmental health.

RESEARCH

The aim of the Research Committee is to foster connections with UM faculty engaged in One Health research and to support student projects engaged in One Health research.

OUTREACH

The aim of the Outreach Committee is to provide One Health-related educational and outreach opportunities at UM and in the broader community, such as monthly speaker talks.
